Introduction
Hello, everyone! My name is FitterSpace, and I wanted to create a homepage to show off all the projects I've been working on
as well as to show off my favorite hobbies.
The GameCube Gauntlet
In August of 2024, I started on a journey to play through every GameCube game ever released. I've played a lot of games I wouldn't
have thought anything about before, and they ended up being great! I'm looking forward to experiencing all the old classics, most of
which I'll be playing for the first time.
Speedrunning
Believe it or not, I've been interested in speedrunning for over 15 years! I don't remember exactly when I did my first speedrun,
but I know how it started. One day, I saw an old tool-assisted speedrun of Super Mario Bros. 3 by Morimoto. It was insane. Back then,
I had no idea what tool-assisted speedruns were, but that didn't matter. The precision and skill I saw in that video blew my mind.
How long does someone have to play to get that good at a Mario game? I figured if it was possible, maybe I could do it, too.
Even better, Super Mario Bros. 3 is short enough that you can do several full-game runs in one sitting. In fact, most Mario
games are like that, so the idea of speedrunning made me see my favorite games in a completely new way. I started thinking about all
the crazy things that were possible in these games, regardless of how the developers expected you to play. If you think about it,
speedrunning can turn anything into a puzzle game if you optimize it hard enough. This meant I could get even more replay value out
of all my favorite games.
Other Hobbies
Most people online will mainly know me for speedrunning, but I actually have lots of hobbies that have nothing to do with
video games or computers. I'd say my three main "miscellaneous" hobbies would be cooking, gardening, and aquascaping (building aquariums).
I also play pool and piano (though I don't practice enough to get better at either), and lately I've been trying to learn Japanese, but I'm
still pretty bad at it. But if I stick with it for long enough, it could help me properly enjoy all the Japanese GameCube games I'll eventually
play through. I'd like to dedicate spaces on this website for those hobbies, too, but I'll get to that when I have more time.
