Tier List

Here is my personal GameCube game tier list, which I update every time I beat 12 games. Why 12? It's because that's how many launch titles there were in North America, and I only wanted to rank them once I beat them all. From there, I decided to play another 12 games before updating the list again, and I just kept that going.

Let me preface this tier list by saying that I prefer games that are easy to get into, but hard to master. If a game fits that description, it probably has a lot of replay value, which I also prioritize. Super Monkey Ball, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, and Super Smash Bros. Melee are good examples of this. However, I also like games that have a lot of content, even if the gameplay has flaws or if the controls take some getting used to. Sonic Adventure 2 and Resident Evil fit into that category. On the opposite end of the spectrum, if a game is only fun for an hour or two, I probably won't put it in the S tier. Examples of this include Smashing Drive and The Simpsons: Road Rage. They might be fun for an hour or two, but there's very little to come back to once you're done playing.

This list isn't perfect, and there are some games I want to give a second chance to, but this is what I've got for now. Keep in mind that I still enjoyed many of the games that were as far down as D tier, but something's got to go down there. In my opinion, these games don't start getting "bad" until around halfway through the C tier. Remember: C is average.
